Our Riders out and about ... 2010, 2009
Congratulations to all our riders who are out competing.
Not everyone can place at every event, thanks to all those of you who send in news of your wins, placings and personal bests. If your name is not here (or some details are wrong), please don't be shy just send your details to Wendy. Let us know the type of event you entered, the date, horse you were riding, and what class you rode in. AND LOTS OF PHOTOS! For personal bests - tell us what you were particularly pleased to have done on the day!
Seville PC Horse Trials
Congratulations Lauren Howes who placed FIRST in Grade 2 at the Seville Pony Club Horse Trials on February 28. Also competing on the day, Sara-Jane Vaughan placed 6th after dressage, and whilst not placing overall, did well to complete the course on a day when 7 riders were eliminated in the xc or sj in her Grade 3A section
Ringwood PC Showjumping Day
Tessa Whitfort, Amy & Kate Moore, and Millei Romei competed at the Ringwood Showjumping Day on 28th Feb. Andy and Tessa came 3rd in 90cm AM7 & the Forestway Pony Jump.
Mooroolbark PC Showjumping Day 21/2/10
It was great to see Mooroolbark riders giving it their best on the 21st Feb at our own SJ Day. Whilst not everyone placed, we heard lots of comments from riders satisfied that they had improved their performances with their horses and ponies. Special mention of some great performances from Justine and Tetley 1st in B Grade, Lauren and Kel 1st in B Grade, Sarah-Jane and Chester 2nd in C Grade (in their first C Grade competition!). In D Grade Amy & Jackson placed 1st. Amongst our E Grade combinations, Maddy & Juddy placed 5th, Alley & Abbey equal 6th, and Tahlia & Huster equal 6th, and F Grade Genevieve & Dolby placed 4th.

Justine Russell (B Grade Showjumping) and Sara-Jane Vaughan (Grade 3 Dressage), represented the North Metro zone at the Feb 14 State Dressage & Showjumping Competition, held in Sale. Both riders competed well, with individual rankings around midfield.
Well done to them Justine & Sara-Jane.

Cockatoo Pony Club Jump Trials - January 2010
Three of our riders competed at one of the first events for the year at Wandin Park. The event was well attended and Tahlia Bourke, Tessa Whitfort, and Jessica Kanen enjoyed the day.

Mooroolbark were represented by the following riders at the state qualifiers run by the Northern Metro Zone:
Lauren Howes, Justine Russell, Tessa Whitfort, Jackie Wright, Sara-Jane Vaughan, Chelsea Winter.
Justine and Tetley qualified in third place in B Grade Showjumping and will be going to the State Competition in Sale in Feb 2010. CONGRATULATIONS
Sara-Jane and Chester placed 4th in Grade 3 Dressage, and that makes them the first emergency with a chance to be called for State.
Well done to all our riders. Results will be published on the NMZ web site (see link below).
.... BREAKING NEWS ... Sara-Jane has been advised that she is now eligible to attend the state competition.
Good luck to both Sara-Jane and Justine for this event on February 14.
Horseland EFA Wandin Park ODE – 28/11/09
Both riders attending this event (in training level 3 ) were pleased with their results, and achieved what they set out to do - Sara-Jane Vaughan achieved her goal of getting Chester around the XC course with a feeling of calm control, they placed in the dressage phase, and finished the day in 12th spot.. Jackie Wright was happy with Wodney's work, and his calm pace around the XC. They were eliminated towards the end at the "christmas jump" (see the photo) which pulled up a number of combinations, but had a great day nonetheless.
Lilydale Show – 21/11/09
Mooroolbark had great representation by seven riders at the Lilydale Show on Saturday November 21. Lauren Howes, Justine Russell, Tessa Whitfort, Jackie Wright, Amy Tucker, Emily Savini, Georgia Goss, Genevieve Savini all came home with at least one ribbon. An interesting day, with some horses finding the noise, the rides and the small warm up areas just a bit too much! But the weather very kindly held out (although not for those going on the Sunday).
We didn’t get all the results written down (there were almost too many to keep track of), and we apologise to those we've missed (put your details in the Out & About book, or email them through) but here are some of the highlights …
HRCAV ring Tessa placed first in led (height class) and 4th in their level rider class.
Open ring For their height classes, Justine & Jackie each placed 2nd in Open Hack and Lauren 2nd in Open Galloway. In the pony class, Georgia placed 3rd and Amy 4th in their height classes. In the exhibit class, Lauren placed 2nd in Galloway and Jackie 3rd in Hack. In led, for her age group, Georgia placed 2nd.
In their rider class, Georgia & Jackie placed 2nd in their age group, and Jackie was reserve champion.
And in Local rider, Georgia placed 2nd, and Jackie & Amy placed equal 4th for their age groups.
In the pony club ring In the best presented class, for their age groups, Jackie placed 2nd, Amy & Tessa 3rd, Lauren & Justine 4th. And the led class (for their age group), Jackie placed 1st, Lauren 2nd, Justine 3rd and Amy 4th. In the Rider class, Justine placed 1st, Jackie 2nd, Lauren 3rd and Amy 4th in their age groups, with Justine also achieving Champion. In the PC Mount class, Tessa placed 2nd (in their height). And for Pleasure Mount, Amy placed 1st in their height class.
Justine had a good day in the showjumping, with a 4th in the 85 cm height. She continued on to some great rounds at the higher jumps, although we don’t hear the final results.
Georgia’s results warrant a special mention – 3 x 2nd places, 1 x 3rd and 1 x 4th – all on her new pony Tory at their first competition together – well done!
Lilydale PC Horse Trials – 25/10/09
Seven of our riders competed on a windy Sunday at Lilydale Horse Trials. The event was well represented, with nearly 200 riders competing in grades 2 through 5. Only 3 of the 17 grade 2 riders went clear on the cross country, 7 were elimnated, with only 7 being eligible to go on to ride the show jumping.
Jackie Wright competed her first ever grade 2 competition with fantastic results. She and Skite placed first after dressage, and FIRST overall and the smile on their faces told it all!
Taylah O’Neill was also grinning with delight that she and Beau had made it around the grade 5 XC with no refusals in their first HT competition together. We haven’t heard whether they placed, but the day sounds to have achieved what they set out to do.
Super Showjumping Series
Chelsea Winter had success in the Super Showjumping Series that was held over 4 weekends and at 4 different Pony Clubs in the NMZ - she came 3rd overall for the series. Which included three 1st placings and one 2nd placing out of the 4 Championship rounds. A 5th and 4th in Equitation and a 3rd, 4th and 6th in Take Your Own Line for the series.
Glenbrae Interschool Gymkhana – 21/10/09
Jackie Wright represented her school at the Gymkhana and she and Wodney had a great day. They placed 1st in Best Presented, Best Rider and Led, and 5th in Best Mount for Eventing and Pleasure Mount, giving them the points they needed to place 1st overall.
Oaklands Pony Club Horse Trials – 18/10/09
Lauren Howes and Chelsea Winter had a good weekend at Oaklands.
Ask Lauren Howes to show you the prize she received for WINNING the Grade 2 section … you will all be jealous ! Congratulations to you and Kal on your ongoing success.
Chelsea Winter placed 4th in the grade 2 section – a particularly strong effort after coming 24th after dressage, 6th after Cross Country and then on to 4th after the SJ phase.
At this event, there were 11 riders eliminated at cross country and 5 eliminated at Show jumping. Chelsea and Lauren were the only Grade 2 riders to go clear in both Cross Country and Show jumping.
Doongala Combined Training and Dressage Day – 18/10/09
A number of our riders competed at the Doongala CT & Dressage Day. Millie Romei came 2nd and Amy Tucker 3rd in the Grade 4 CT. Well done girls
